Engineering Manager

Are you a hands-on engineer who also thrives in a leadership role? Do you have a passion for quality design, developing talent, and improving processes? We’re looking for an Engineering Manager who will lead our team of engineers while producing top-tier building automation system (BAS) designs that bring buildings to life. This role combines strategic leadership with technical design expertise and plays a vital part in standardizing engineering practices across the organization.

What You’ll Do

As a Team Leader (30%)

  • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of engineers through regular 1:1s and formal performance reviews
  • Oversee onboarding, performance management, and career development
  • Approve schedules and allocate engineering resources based on project demand
  • Maintain decision-making authority for engineering standards and best practices
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement

As a Working Engineer (70%)

  • Create high-quality control system designs based on construction documents, scope, and budget
  • Collaborate with Sales to align designs with initial project goals and budgets
  • Maintain expertise across multiple product lines and manufacturers
  • Produce and review project documentation: submittals, as-builts, wiring diagrams, and sequence of operations
  • Standardize engineering templates, materials, and drawing formats across projects
  • Partner with PMs to support project orientation, address RFIs, and coordinate engineering timelines
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and engage in professional organizations like ASHRAE
  • Visit job sites occasionally to support design validation and field coordination
  • Continuously evaluate and improve engineering workflows and processes

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent industry certifications
  • Proven experience in building automation design and engineering leadership
  • Proficiency in CAD, Visio, or other technical design software
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret MEP blueprints and technical specifications
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and communication skills
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel occasionally
